Professional Code of Conduct & Ethics

 

At NOOMA Breathwork, I am committed to working with you in a way that upholds the highest standards of professional integrity, ethical responsibility, and respect for your wellbeing and dignity. This Code of Conduct and Ethics outlines the principles that guide every breathwork session, consultancy engagement, and supervision relationship I undertake.

Working with Clients

Before starting work with any work with a client, I will explain and strive to ensure that the client knows and fully understands, the nature, terms, and conditions of the breathwork, consultancy, or supervision contract, including financial, logistical, and confidentiality arrangements.

I will use my professional knowledge and experience to understand my clients’ expectations.

I will be open and transparent about the methods I use and willing to share information with clients about the processes and standards involved.

I will ensure that the duration of the contract is appropriate to support the client’s desired outcomes and will actively work to promote the client’s autonomy, self-reliance and self-trust.

I will ensure that the setting in which any breathwork facilitation, consultancy or supervision takes place, offers optimal conditions for learning, reflection and professional and personal development.

Integrity

I will be suitably qualified to work with my clients and honestly represent my relevant experience, professional qualifications, and certifications/accreditations to clients and fellow professionals.

In communication with any party, I will accurately represent the value I provide as a facilitator, consultant, or supervisor.

I will ensure that no false or misleading claims are made, or implied, about my professional competence, qualifications, or accreditation in any material, or otherwise.

I will attribute ownership of work, ideas, and materials of others to the originator and not claim it as my own.

I will disclose any conflict of interest and act within applicable law and not in any way encourage, assist or collude with conduct that is dishonest, unlawful, unprofessional, unjust, or discriminatory.

I shall always conduct my professional services with the highest propriety. 

I will not become or remain a member of any organisation that has been found to be dangerous or fraudulent.

I shall not profess to cure any conditions presented by my clients. 

I shall accept that any client referred to me by a GP remains the responsibility of that GP, so agree to keep the GP or other relevant agencies informed of their patient’s progress. 

I shall never advise clients to discontinue any treatment prescribed by a GP or any other Registered Medical Practitioner. 

I shall at all times respect the integrity of other health care professionals. 

Confidentiality

When working with clients, I will maintain the strictest level of confidentiality with all client information, unless the release of information is required by law.

I will clearly explain to clients, the legal limits of confidentiality (e.g., illegal activity, risk to self or others) and gain agreement to that limit of confidentiality where possible unless the release of information is required by law.

I will keep, store and dispose of all data and records of their client work including digital files and communications, in a manner that ensures confidentiality, security, and privacy, and complies with all relevant laws.

I will only share information with your explicit consent or when legally required.

I will ensure your anonymity in professional discussions, case studies, or learning contexts.

professional interactions

I will be responsible for setting and maintaining clear, appropriate, and culturally sensitive boundaries that govern all physical and virtual interactions with clients.

I will strictly avoid pursuing and refrain from engaging in any romantic or sexual relationships with clients.

Conflict of interest

I will not exploit a client or seek to gain any inappropriate financial or non-financial advantage from the relationship nor use the client’s personal, professional or other data, without their consent.

To avoid any conflict of interest, I will clearly distinguish a professional relationship with a client from other forms of relationships.

I will consider the impact of any client relationships on other client relationships and discuss any potential conflict of interest with those who might be affected.

I will disclose any conflict of interest openly and transparently with the client and if a conflict arises that cannot be managed effectively agree to withdraw from the professional relationship.

closing professional relationships

I will respect the client's right to end any engagement with me, at any point in the process, subject to the provisions of the breathwork, consultancy, or supervision service agreement.

I will encourage the client to terminate the breathwork, consultancy, or supervision engagement if it is believed that the client would be better served by a different form of professional support.

I will prepare clients for the ending of the service including having a service continuity plan if the member is unexpectedly unable to complete.

I understand that my professional responsibilities continue beyond the end of the professional relationship. These include:

Maintenance of agreed confidentiality of all information relating to client

Safe and secure maintenance of all related records and data that complies with all relevant laws.

Avoidance of any exploitation of the former relationship, which could otherwise call into question the professionalism or integrity of me or the professional community

Provision of any follow-up that has been agreed to.

Maintaining reputation

I will behave in a way that at all times reflects positively upon and enhances the reputation of a professional service, ensuring that the use of technology is aligned with professional standards.

personal Responsibility

I will avoid knowingly discriminating on any grounds and will seek to enhance my awareness of possible areas for discrimination, including in the use of technology or inaccurate or fake data.

I will be aware of the potential for bias and seek to ensure that I take a respectful and inclusive approach, which embraces and explores individual differences.

I will engage in professional development activities that contribute to increased self-awareness in relation to diversity, technology, latest developments in changing social and environmental needs.

I recognising the inherent power dynamic in facilitator-client relationships and strive to balance these through respect, collaboration, and shared decision-making

I acknowledge that clients are the experts of their own cultural identity, experiences, and needs.

Legal & statutory obligations & duties

I am committed to staying up to date and complying with:

All relevant statutory requirements in which my professional work takes place.

The relevant organisational policies and procedures of the work context.

professional competance

I will operate within the limit of my professional competence and will refer clients to a more experienced or suitably qualified practicing member where appropriate.

I will be fit and healthy enough to practice. If I am not, or are unsure if I am able to practice safely for health reasons, I will seek professional guidance or support.

professional supervision

I will engage in professional supervision with a suitably qualified/experienced supervisor with a level of frequency that is appropriate to my role and practice, the requirements of my professional body and level of accreditation, and will have evidence of engagement in reflexive practice.

I will ensure that any other existing relationship within the supervision, professional or personal, does not interfere with the quality of the supervision provided.

I will discuss any ethical dilemmas and potential, or actual, breaches of this Code including any arising in general, with my supervisor for support and guidance.

Continuing professional development

I will develop my level of facilitation, consultancy and supervision competence and capability by participating in relevant training and future- focused, continuing professional development (CPD) activities.

I will systematically reflect on and evaluate the quality and relevance of my work through feedback from clients to improve my practice.

I, Fiona Moore, commit to upholding this Code of Conduct & Ethics in all aspects of my professional practice. I understand that maintaining these standards is essential for providing safe, effective, and ethical breathwork services.

This Code of Conduct & Ethics is reviewed annually and updated to reflect current best practices and professional standards.
